Managing School Operations and Resources

Alberta’s Leadership Quality Standard outlines that "A leader effectively directs operations and manages resources."

I continue to work on this domain by:

  • Sustain training in the 7 Habits
  • Actively doing class room walk-throughs both formally and informally. I make it a priority to take a quick tour around the school each morning, saying hello to staff and students and checking in to see if anyone needs any assistance. I find this valuable because I am able to connect with people and meet their needs in a timely manner.
  • Developing staff timetables and supervision schedules and using the Wolf Creek FTE calculator.
  • Booking and organizing events/performances for the school. For example: Motivational Magic, The NED Show.
  • Actively participating in Hour Zero protocols and procedures. I feel it necessary to take a turn in drills as the incident commander so that I feel more confident in a real situation.
  • Making myself aware of the school budget and working with the principal to work within the budget.
  • Making purchases for the school.
  • Managing the fleet of technology which includes 300 Chromebook and 70 iPads.
  • Applying for grants, for example FCSS, Dowe Chemicals, Staples Technology Grant.
  • Promote flexible learning environment
  • Assist in planning & implementing practice fire drills & lock downs
  • Develop educational assistants timetables
  • Assist in developing supervision protocols and procedures
